The Mind Behind Excelsior

Bringing Intelligence-Grade Behavioral Insight to Leadership

Jeff Hung

Founder, Excelsior Influence & Advisory Group

From the quiet marshlands of Charleston, South Carolina, in 1972, Jeff Hung's story began—an early experiment in curiosity itself. Tested for ADD as a child, the results were inconclusive, but the evidence was clear: his mind didn't wander, it soared. From dawn fishing trips to dusk hunts, from the rhythm of horses to the discipline of training retrievers, Jeff's world was the outdoors—alive, instinctive, and full of motion.

At age eleven, he enrolled in military school—a place where structure met opportunity. The cadence of drills, the weight of leadership, the shaping of self-discipline—all became part of his DNA. Returning home to graduate high school, he stepped instantly into a world of self-direction and freedom.

University was the next stop—a lesson not in academics, but in awareness. Fraternity life and freedom collided, and grades plummeted, but clarity rose. Sitting in an old gun club he had leased to live in and think, he realized success wouldn't come from a classroom—it would come from creation. Business became his new curriculum, and barbecue his first venture. The smell of smoke and sauce became symbols of risk and resilience. Though the business eventually dissolved, the lessons remained—discipline, mentorship, and the art of strategic thinking.

With that momentum, Jeff went abroad. Europe expanded his lens—a bird's-eye view of people, places, and human potential. In Budapest, a dangerous encounter with a local mobster became a turning point, reminding him that leadership means facing down chaos with calm resolve.

Returning home, Jeff turned his focus forward—to real estate. With no experience but relentless curiosity, he learned the language, earned his license, and founded Spelman Hung Capital, LLC. Through intuition, persistence, and shrewd negotiation, he built a seven-figure portfolio of mobile home parks and multifamily properties. His exit through a 1031 exchange catapulted his holdings into a new orbit, propelling him toward commercial assets and single-tenant leases.

Today, Jeff Hung stands at the intersection of strategy and behavioral science—continuously evolving through stoic philosophy, neuro-cognitive intelligence, and influence mastery. As founder of Excelsior Influence & Advisory Group, he brings intelligence-grade behavioral insight to leaders navigating the invisible forces that determine outcomes. Those who work with him don't just strategize—they operate with clarity others can't access.

Core Philosophy

Clarity Is the Ultimate Advantage

Most organizations lose millions not because they lack intelligence, but because they're running strategy on incomplete human data. Excelsior brings precision-grade behavioral insight to leadership—revealing the invisible patterns, biases, and blind spots that silently sabotage outcomes.

Behavioral Mastery Over Guesswork

We don't deal in theory or motivational hype. We deliver intelligence-grade insight into human behavior—how people make decisions, what drives their actions, and how to ethically influence outcomes in high-stakes environments. This is architecture, not inspiration.

Ever Upward

Excellence is not a destination—it's a trajectory. Excelsior exists to ensure that every client is constantly ascending, constantly refining, constantly achieving new levels of mastery and behavioral clarity.
